OT-Pro in the Occupational Therapy education programs
OT-Pro originated in the academic world. It is therefore not surprising that almost all educational institutions in Belgium use the tool in their Occupational Therapy training. If you follow our social media, you could see that Ingrid was a guest at Howest in Kortrijk last week, but there are more schools that integrate our tool into their education program.
OT-Pro is built for the professional field and yet the students use it in their training ?
OT-Pro has its origins in the academic world. PXL Hogeschool first developed the Hasselt Occupational Performance Profile (H-OPP) for monitoring students during their internship.
Q-Top has meanwhile adapted the program to suit the work field. The fact that we are returning to the students with this software tool is mainly to prepare them even better for the work field during their occupational therapy training. Because with OT-Pro, the occupational therapy sector is taking a giant step towards automation and professionalization. Something that the next generation of occupational therapists will be able to do even better.
Which schools use OT-Pro ?
In Flanders, almost all schools work with our tool. PXL Hogeschool, Howest, Hogent, AP Hogeschool, Artevelde Hogeschool, Hogeschool Vives. In Wallonia HE Vinci took the first step. They all focus on innovation and digitization.
Most schools use this software to monitor students during their internship. The internship also gets acquainted with our software in this way.
Others use it in their courses on multidisciplinary collaboration and start as independent occupational therapists.
Why is this so important to OT-Pro ?
The students are the therapists of the future and therefore a seed for us that can blossom later. But it is also important for educational programs to demonstrate that keeping a digital patient or client file contributes to the professionalization of the profession. It also has been mandatory in Belgium since the beginning of 2022 to keep a digital file.
In addition, the use of the ICF Code Sets, prepared by the WHO, is of particular importance in the multidisciplinary collaboration with other healthcare providers. So everyone speaks the same language.
